Korpisota.fi (Korpisota = Wilderness war) is a comprehensive military history website focusing on World War II events along the Kuusamo–Kiestinki axis between 1939 and 1944. The site serves as a platform for in-depth historical publications and extensive archival material.
Korpisota.fi offers a comprehensive overview of the operations of Finnish, German, and Soviet forces in the Kuusamo–Kiestinki sector from 1939 to 1944. The site provides detailed, in-depth coverage of topics such as ground operations, air warfare, partisan activity, logistics, military units, and the weaponry and vehicles used in combat.
Interactive, zoomable maps play a key role, allowing wartime events to be precisely located within the modern-day landscape. Through these maps and a wealth of photographic material, readers can follow the progression of battles and explore the actual sites where these events took place.
The Kuusamo Military History Research Group—an international team active since 1999—operates the site with the aim of investigating the region's wartime events impartially and accurately, often by cross-referencing incomplete or conflicting information. The aim of the research is to provide the reader with as accurate an overall picture as possible of the demanding conditions of wilderness warfare.
